Emmanuel Hølaas – Hyperrealistic Portraits That Meet Your Gaze

Born in Leksvik and now based in Trondheim, Norway, Emmanuel Hølaas is a portrait artist working in the field of hyperrealism. A member of both the Norwegian Drawing Association (Tegnerforbundet) and the Norwegian Visual Artists Association (NBK), he has established himself as an artist with a distinctive eye for detail and a deep sensitivity to human expression.

In 2022, Emmanuel began his journey into hyperrealism, developing his technique under the guidance of internationally acclaimed artists Kelvin Okafor from the United Kingdom and Dirk Dzimirsky from Germany, one of the leading figures in contemporary hyperrealism. That same year, his work was exhibited at The Holy Art Gallery in London, where it was presented not only inside the gallery but also on digital screens throughout the city, creating a dialogue between art, public space, and its audience.

In 2024, Emmanuel held his first solo exhibition to great success during Steinkjer Pride Art at Steinkaret. He now returns with Do You See?, an exhibition featuring thirteen powerful artworks alongside a video installation that invites viewers to look beyond the surface and reflect on the human face, identity, and presence.

Emmanuel's portraits are more than faithful reproductions of reality. They are intimate, compelling, and emotionally engaging, inviting viewers into a direct encounter with the people portrayed. Do You See? offers a rare opportunity to experience hyperrealism at its most immersive, both physically and digitally.

Opening: 24 January, 1:00 pm
Exhibition on view through February.
