Introducing REFRACT

Some ideas take shape quietly before they become something real.
REFRACT began as a conversation between Hylja Dragsta Häninger and me. We shared a belief that there should be more space for artists who challenge conventions, experiment across disciplines, and explore identity without fitting neatly into existing categories.
In 2026, that conversation became REFRACT—a queer art platform based in Trondheim, Norway.
Our ambition is to connect artists across disciplines and borders through exhibitions, collaborations, and artistic exchange. Rather than focusing on formal backgrounds or established careers, we are interested in artistic relevance, curiosity, and authentic voices.
The name REFRACT comes from the phenomenon of refraction—the way light changes direction as it passes through different materials. To us, it reflects what art can do: shift perspectives, question assumptions, and reveal something new.
This is only the beginning, and I'm excited to see where the journey takes us.
